Alexandria Library of Religion v. 1.00 (Alpha) ---------------------------------------------- Introduction ------------ Welcome to the library of religion. This application aims to provide a common search and display mechanism for electronic versions of religious texts. This archive contains the Alexandria programs and the Four Gospels. Other volumes will be distributed separately. Distribution ------------ This archive may be freely distributed, provided that no changes are made to any of the files contained therein. While the author retains the copyright to the software, this application is available for free. Volumes ------- As of November 1995, the following texts have been indexed and are available. - The Four Gospels (King James Version) - The King James Version of the Bible - Young's Literal Translation of the Bible - The Weymouth New Testament - The Book of Mormon - Doctrine and Covenants - The Pearl of Great Price - The Koran - The Tao te Ching of Lao Tzu - The Writings of the Early Church (Ante-Nicene) Fathers The following texts are presently being indexed, and should be available by January 1996. - The Latin Vulgate of Jerome - The Greek Septuagint (Transliterated and in original alphabet) - The Nestle/Aland Greek New Testament (Transliterated and in original alphabet) - The Gospel of Thomas - The Apocrypha (King James Version) Installation ------------ Program ------- This archive should be unpacked to a temporary directory. From the Windows Program Manager, select File|Run and enter the full path to the SETUP.EXE file located in this archive. (For example, if the archive is unpacked in the C:\TEMP directory, the full path will be C:\TEMP\SETUP.EXE). For a first-time installation, click on the 'Intall Program' button. Once installation has completed, the files in the temporary directory may be deleted. Additional Volumes ------------------ Additional volumes will be released separately. The files in the archive should be unpacked to a temporary dirctory. Double-click on the 'Alexandria Setup' icon the 'Alexandria' program Group. Click on the 'Install Volume' button. Enter the full path of the unpacked volume and click on the 'Install' button. The temporary directory can be deleted after installation is complete. Quick Start ----------- Double-click on the 'Alexandria Library of Religion' icon in the 'Alexandria' Program Group. Select File|Open Volume from the main menu. Select the volume that you want to open. Select Help|Topics from the main menu for an overview of the application. (Note: This help file can be read without starting the program. From the Program Manager, select File|Run and enter the command 'WINHELP'. Select File|Open from the Winhelp menu, and open the file 'ALEX.HLP' located in the Alexandria program directory.) Notes ----- 1) If you have installed a shell other than the default Windows Program manager, you may experience problems with the installation. If this is the case, clear the 'Create Program Group' option on the setup program before installation. You will then have to add the Alexandria programs to your shell manually. 2) Windows 95 users will find the Alexandria program files under the Programs option on the Start menu.
